Saints Win Enerflex Cup!

There’s nothing like a Game 7 to get the home fires burning.

Brett Cameron scored four times and added an assist to lead the Spruce Grove Saints to a 6-0 win over the Fort McMurray Oil Barons Tuesday night.

The 4-3 series win gave the Saints its first AJHL championship title since 1996.

“We’re going to celebrate this one because we deserved it,” said Saints head coach Steve Hamilton. “This was unbelievably rewarding. This is exactly what we built this team to do ... to win a championship.”

Saints Hire New Marketing Director

The Spruce Grove Saints are pleased to announce Travis Ziegler as the new Director of Marketing and Sales.  Travis comes to us after completing the Television Broadcasting Program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.  He contributed to the Saints as the colour commentator and columnist for the 2009/2010 season, and has resided in Spruce Grove for close to two decades.  As a product of Spruce Grove Minor Hockey he will add a local element to the club and continue to grow the strong relationship between the community and the Saints organization.

“We are very happy to have Travis on board with us as we recognize his passion for the game and continued development of the Saints organization.” General Manager and Head Coach Jason McKee.

” As a former player Travis has been around the Spruce Grove hockey scene most of his life, and we like the idea that a local, ambitious, young man will be representing our organization off the ice to compliment the young men on the ice.”  Saints’ Owner and Governor Darren Myshak.”

Saints Announce Leadership Change

The Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce the appointment of Jason McKee to the position of General Manager/Head Coach after the team was informed of Steve Hamilton’s decision to step away from the club following the 2009-2010 season. McKee has been a key component of the team’s coaching staff for the past four seasons. During that span, the Saints have amassed a record of 164 wins, 47 losses, 6 ties and 27 OTL, while capturing the 2010 Enerflex Cup.

“The opportunity to maintain the continuity in our program was extremely important to our organization,” stated Governor Darren Myshak, “Jason will provide the leadership that we have come to expect. He is a coach that brings an element of professionalism and expertise that is paramount to our organization. The Saints are very proud of the program Steve has developed over the past four years and we are confident that Jason and his coaching staff will continue to add to the Saints’ tradition.”

The Saints would like to thank Steve for his contributions to the organization and wish him continued success in all future endeavours.
